The 2020 SBS Entertainment Awards concluded the event with Kim Jong Kook being awarded the Daesang. The awards was hosted by Lee Seung Gi, Shin Dong Yup, and ASTRO’s Cha Eun Woo.
Kim Jong Kook finally took home his very first Daesang award at the entertainment awards ceremony. Kim Jong Kook is a member of the famous Korean variety show Running Man and My Ugly Duckling.
During his grateful acceptance speech, he said, “I regretted not enjoying my past awards received as a singer and I shouldn’t have been so calm. This award is very valuable to me.”
During the speech, he thanked Yoo Jae Suk and Kang Ho Dong for being great mentors to him. “When I first started to appear in entertainment shows, it was to promote myself as a singer. Due to my initial shyness, I would ask Yoo Jae Seok not ask me to do certain things because I didn’t enjoy it. After meeting awesome mentors like Yoo Jae Suk and Kang Ho Dong, appearing on variety shows have become my life.”
He also didn’t forget all the members he worked with on the shows. He said, “All the ‘Running Man’ members have worked so hard. I never thought there would be people who took care of my parents like they did while appearing on ‘My Ugly Duckling’. I dedicate this award to all the members.”
He concluded, “I appreciate more of the things we take for granted. I think I can take this year to be a lesson that I will not forget even when the world returns to normal in the future. I will continue to work hard to make people laugh.”
Congratulations Kim Jong Kook on your Daesang Award, and thanks for sharing your awesome philosophy!
